Call for Artists: "Exploring Memory"
Bohío Creative, Caldas da Rainha, Portugal
Exhibition Dates: May 3 – June 21, 2025
Selection by: Franchesca Melendez
Deadline for Submissions: March 22, 2025
Entry Fee: 20€ (including VAT)
Exhibition Theme
"Memory (the deliberate act of remembering) is a form of willed creation. It is not an effort to find out the way it really was — The point is to dwell on the way it appeared and why it appeared in that particular way."
— Toni Morrison

Bohío Creative invites artists based in Portugal to explore the theme of memory in its many forms. What sparks a memory? How do we cling to or reinterpret our past? How does memory shape our identities and relationships? Any of these questions or others related to memory may be explored.

We welcome submissions across all media—including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, video, sound, and mixed media—that evoke the significance of remembering and the role memory plays in our lives.
